The St. Louis Blues, battling for the top playoff seed in the Western Conference, could get a boost Saturday in the form of defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.

Shattenkirk, who has missed 25 games since undergoing abdominal surgery on Feb. 5, will practice Friday and could play Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll has been suspended for three games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon during Tuesday's game.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Boll will forfeit $27,419.34.

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrew MacDonald and forward Wayne Simmonds will miss the rest of the regular season.

Simmonds went to the locker room limping with a left leg injury and MacDonald injured his right hand Wednesday in a win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Edmonton Oilers recalled defenseman Brandon Davidson from the American Hockey League and also agreed to terms with defenseman Ben Betker on a three-year, entry-level contract.

Forward Greg McKegg was recalled on an emergency basis by the Maple Leafs from the Toronto Marlies for Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers.

McKegg, 22, was scoreless in two games with the Maple Leafs this season.

The San Jose Sharks signed goaltender Joel Rumpel and defenseman Joakim Ryan to entry-level contracts, and they will report to the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.

Rumpel, who signed a one-year deal, posted a 53-50-11 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage over four seasons at the University of Wisconsin.

The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with forward Andrew Copp on a three-year, two-way, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $958,300.

Copp, 20, reports directly to the Jets. He recently completed his junior season with the University of Michigan.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed forward Brayden Point to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Point, 19, scored 38 goals and registered 87 points in 60 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League this season. He has 99 goals and 236 points in 204 career WHL games.

The Calgary Flames signed forward Austin Carroll from the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League. Terms were not disclosed.

Carroll was a seventh-round draft pick by the Flames in 2014, and led Victoria with 38 goals, 77 points, 124 penalty minutes and a plus-23 rating in 69 games this season.

Former NHL defenseman Nick Boynton, part of the Phoenix Coyotes' radio broadcast team, was suspended by the team following an incident at Buffalo Creek Casino in which he allegedly bit the finger of a security guard during a scuffle.

Boynton, 36, was arrested and faces charges of assault, criminal mischief and harassment.
