April 14 (The Sports Xchange) - Chicago center Patrick Kane confirmed Tuesday that he will return for the Blackhawks' Western Conference playoff opener on Wednesday night against the Nashville Predators after missing seven weeks with a fractured clavicle.

Kane, who was injured on Feb. 24 and had surgery the next day, practiced for the first time on Monday and again Tuesday without any problems.

A mutual parting is expected between the San Jose Sharks and coach Todd McLellan, according to a report.
The San Jose Mercury News reported that McLellan and the Sharks will sit down Wednesday to make a decision about the coach's future with the team.

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty, the team's leading scorer, probably will not play in Game 1 of the first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday, coach Michel Therrien said.
The team's medical staff has not yet cleared Pacioretty to play as the result of an upper-body injury sustained late in the season, leaving his status uncertain.

Ottawa Senators assistant coach Mark Reeds died of cancer on Tuesday at age 55.
The team confirmed the passing of the former NHL defenseman who had been with the Senators as an assistant since 2011. He was diagnosed with cancer last summer and fought "right until the end," Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said.

Defenseman Travis Hamonic is out indefinitely and his status for any portion of the New York Islanders first-round playoff series with the Washington Capitals is uncertain.
The team said his injury is "undisclosed," but Hamonic will not be easily replaced if he misses significant time.

The U.S. and Canadian rosters for the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship in Czech Republic were announced.
The 15 players named to the U.S. squad include 10 from NHL rosters. The Canadian roster features Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars and Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers, who are among the NHL's top scorers this season.
