March 13 (The Sports Xchange) - Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a broken hand in Saturday's game, the team announced Monday.

The injury occurred when Murray blocked a shot in the first period of Columbus' 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
The team said Murray underwent surgery Monday morning, and he is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.
Murray has two goals, nine assists and 24 penalty minutes in 60 games this season.

The Blue Jackets activated left winger Matt Calvert off injured reserve and assigned center T.J. Tynan to the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate.
Calvert, 27, has been sidelined since Feb. 12 due to an oblique strain, missing the Blue Jackets' past nine games.
Tynan, 25, made his NHL debut on March 7 against New Jersey and appeared in three games with Columbus this season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled forward Byron Froese from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
Froese, 25, appeared in two games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, posting two shots on goal.
Forward Matthew Peca was reassigned to the Lightning's AHL affiliate.
