July 12 (The Sports Xchange) - The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms with defenseman Jaccob Slavin on a seven-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.
The contract will begin during the 2018-19 season and carries an average annual value of $5.3 million.

The Arizona Coyotes turned to a familiar face in the region by naming Steve Patterson as the club's new president, chief executive officer and alternate governor.
The Coyotes also announced that general manager John Chayka has been promoted to president of hockey operations. He will retain the general manager title.

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed their first-round pick, defenseman Timothy Liljegren, to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Liljegren, 18, was selected by the Maple Leafs with the 17th overall pick in last month's NHL draft.
In 2016-17, the Kristianstad, Sweden, native collected one goal and four assists in 19 games with Rogle BK (SHL), one assist in five games with Timra IK (Allsvenskan) and seven points (five goals, two assists) in 12 games with Rogle BK J20 (SuperElit).
