O'Brien, 23, has played in three games for the Capitals this season. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native has one goal and one assist in 17 career games with the Capitals.

The Nashville Predators assigned forwards Frederick Gaudreau and Pontus Aberg to the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.

Gaudreau has played in 10 games with Nashville this season, tallying two assists and two penalty minutes.
