Wideman suspended for 20 games for linesman incident, Flames recall defenseman - NHL Round Up

Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman has been suspended 20 games for cross-checking a linesman, the NHL announced Wednesday.

The league said Wideman's suspension without pay was for "conduct violative of Rule 40 (Physical Abuse of Officials)" during last Wednesday's game against the Nashville Predators.
Wideman has said he cross-checked linesman Don Henderson unintentionally in a woozy scramble to get back to the team's bench at 11:19 of the second period.
Wideman, who had been suspended indefinitely before the All-Star break, met with NHL officials in Toronto on Tuesday at an appeal hearing that lasted 90 minutes.
The 32-year-old has played 11 NHL seasons, including four with the Flames. He has two goals, 17 assists and 30 penalty minutes in 48 games this season.

The Calgary Flames recalled defenseman Jakub Nakladal from the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Nakladal, 28, has 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 35 games with Stockton this season. The Pardubice, Czech Republic, native was signed as a free agent by the Flames in May 2015 after spending the 2014-15 season in Finland.
Calgary also assigned forward Mason Raymond to the AHL affiliate after he cleared waivers. He has four goals and one assist in 29 games for the Flames this season.

The Arizona Coyotes recalled forward Steve Downie from Springfield of the American Hockey League.
Downie, 28, scored one goal in five games with Springfield and has collected six points (three goals, three assists) in 25 games with the Coyotes this season.
The 5-foot-11, 191-pound native of Newmarket, Onatrio has 196 points (76 goals, 120 assists) and 1,057 penalty minutes in 433 career NHL games.

The St. Louis Blues assigned forward Ty Rattie to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
Rattie, 22, has played in 32 games with the Wolves this season and ranks fourth on the team with 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists). The 6-foot, 189-pounder has made 11 appearances with the Blues, posting five points (three goals, two assists).

The Edmonton Oilers placed left winger Luke Gazdic on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Bakersfield of the American Hockey League.
Gazdic, 26, has appeared in 28 games with Oilers this season, registering one goal and 22 penalty minutes.

The New York Rangers recalled forward Jayson Megna from Hartford of the American Hockey League.
The 26-year-old has one goal, one assist and two penalty minutes in five games for the Rangers this season. His first career NHL goal came in his debut against the Dallas Stars on Jan. 5.
