Outplayed for most of the game, the Nashville Predators turned to goalkeeper Pekka Rinne and Filip Forsberg to steal two points with victory over Edmonton.
Predators 1, Oilers 0 (OT)
Rinne stopped 37 shots in the 34th shutout of his career and Forsberg scored the only goal at 3:55 of overtime as Nashville improved to 9-1-1 in Bridgestone Arena, blanking the Edmonton Oilers 1-0.
Moments after hitting the crossbar, early Calder Trophy favourite Forsberg got the puck back and ripped a 21-foot wrister past goalie Viktor Fasth (2-5-2), who turned away the first 24 shots he faced.
It was the third straight win for the Predators (15-5-2), which moved into sole possession of first place in the Central Division. Edmonton (6-14-3) dropped its eighth game in a row, falling to 0-11-2 against the Western Conference this season.
