Following on from their double win in Winterberg last weekend, the 2013 and 2016 European champions were once again in dominant form in America as they secured their 19th career win – coming home in 1:28.382 minuts.
The American pairing of Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman made the most of their home advantage to take second in 1:28.545, their best World Cup result to date as a duo.
And third place in Lake Placid went to Robin Geueke and David Gamm of Germany, who confirmed that their results at last weekend’s season opener in Hochsauerland, where they finished second and third were no fluke.
After three of 12 events, Eggert and Benecken lead the overall classification with the perfect score of 300 points ahead of Geueke and Gamm on 225, and the defending title-holders Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt are on 197 after finishing eighth in Lake Placid.
