Defending luge doubles World Cup champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken made it a hat-tricks of season-opening wins after triumphing in Innsbruck.
The Germans are unbeaten in the season's curtain raiser since 2013 while they have found memories of the Innsbruck track after also winning the inaugural sprint World Cup there last year.
And their 11th World Cup win came by 0.111 of a second after they posted the fastest times over both their runs – 39.689 and 39.692 seconds – for an overall time of 1:19.381 minutes.
Austrians Peter Penz and Georg Fischler were second while 2014 Olympic champions Tobias Wendly and Tobias Arlt were third.
"We've shaken off the early-season nerves and now we know where we stand," said Eggert.
"We'll find out if this really is our favourite track when the World Championships are held here in 2017."
