Despite having three second-place finishes to her name this season, German Huefner headed to Oberhof still waiting to climb the top step of the podium.
But the wait is finally over as she finished in 1:23.925 minutes for the win, leading the German contingent home with the nation occupying the top four spots.
In second place was Natalie Geisenberger 0.016 seconds behind Huefner as she failed to taste victory for the first time this World Cup season, having won the first six races.
And finishing third was former junior World champion Dajana Eitberger as she celebrated her first ever World Cup podium finish.
Despite finishing second best in Oberhof Geisenberger looks set to wrap up the overall World Cup title as she leads Huefner by 194 points with just two races remaining.
There was a similar battle between Germany in the doubles event with Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken pipping compatriots Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt to the win by 0.379 seconds.
Russians Vladislav Yuzhakov and Vladimir Makhnutin completed the podium as they came home third.
Wendl and Arlt still leads the overall World Cup standings on 670 points, with Eggert and Benecken second with 545 and Austrians Peter Penz and Georg Fischler third on 414 after finishing fifth in Oberhof.
