Tatiana Ivanova finally tasted success at Sanki Sliding Center as she edged out her Russian teammate Victoria Demchenko at the latest World Cup race in Sochi.
Fresh from winning bronze at the recent World Championships, Ivanova secured her second win of the season at the 2014 Olympic track in Sochi.
The Russian won Olympic silver in the team relay two years ago but was on the top spot of the podium after a strong opening run set her up nicely.
She eventually finished with a combined time of 1:41.023 minutes to take the win, 0.129 seconds ahead of Demchenko – although it was still a career- best result for the daughter of three-time Olympic silver medallist Albert Demchenko.
Olympic and world champion Natalie Geisenberger finished third to retain her overall lead in the World Cup standings with 750 points.
Summer Britcher from the USA now lies second on 645 points ahead of compatriot Erin Hamlin on 642 points.
