Loch, who had won all of his previous races at the Innsbruck track during the last five years, was leading after the first run on Sunday when his sledge was adjudged to be overweight.
Fischnaller then went on to win by six thousands of a second ahead of Austria’s Armin Frauscher and fellow countryman Wolfgang Kindl was third.
Norbert Loch, the Germany team’s head coach and father of Felix Loch, simply stated: “Human mistakes just happen” when asked about the disqualification.
On his victory, Fischnaller said: “I can’t imagine a better start for the season. It was one of my aims to win a World Cup race one more time.
“Now I want to keep this level the whole season [although] I’m not sure whether it would have been possible for me to beat Felix Loch."
Germany won three of the four team events to finish ahead of second-placed Russia and Italy in third.
