Gibernau to retire?

The 33-year-old Spaniard has called a press conference in Barcelona for Wednesday morning where he will reveal his plans for next year.

Gibernau has not been linked with either of the vacant Ilmor seats or with a ride in World Superbikes, and so is expected to call time on his career.

This season, which has seen him move from Gresini Honda to Ducati, has been spoilt by injuries, as he has broken his right collarbone three times and seen his ride taken for next season by Casey Stoner.
