Alongside Johannes Rydzek, Riessle won the team event in Lahti on Saturday, although the Germans were rivals 24 hours later.
And it was Riessle who came out on top, coming home in 25:50.9 minutes for his third individual World Cup win of the season.
Rydzek failed to finish on the podium as he came fourth, but there was more for Germany to celebrate as Eric Frenzel was runner-up, 5.1 seconds behind Riessle.
And finishing ahead of Rydzek to claim third was Akito Watabe of Japan, 11 seconds off the pace.
Despite finishing second best Frenzel still leads the World Cup standings on 1091 points, 187 ahead of Watabe with Riessle third on 789.
