Darren Turner, who scored the match-winning try in Sheffield Eagles' fairytale Wembley win over Wigan in 1998, is back on the Challenge Cup trail 18 years on.
Now 42, the hooker has pulled the boots back on and, after helping Holmfirth side Underbank Rangers pull off a surprise first-round win over leading amateurs Leigh Miners Rangers, has set his sights on a place in Tuesday's third-round draw.
Standing in his way in Saturday's second-round tie are National Conference premier division side Kells and Turner is eyeing another shock.
"It's a brilliant competition and one I'm enjoying being part of," Turner said. "We know it's going to be a tough ask on Saturday against Kells, but the magic of the Cup might help us through again.
"It was a bit nerve-racking playing again a couple of weeks ago. I've had to buy a new pair of boots but it was good to be back out there.
"I've been in the gym recently and I've got a little bit more time on my hands, so I thought I'll give it a go. I've really enjoyed the training down at Underbank, I've got so much respect for them all.
"That Leigh game has taken it out of me a little bit, I must say. I'm 42 now, so I'm not as young as I once was. I just felt really fit and I've got a lot of respect for the club and it's where my son plays as well."
