Higham, who rejoined his hometown club in the week for a £50,000 fee from Warrington, touched down five minutes into the second half of a stormy Grand Final match that saw Featherstone prop Paul Wood sent off for punching and four other players sin-binned.
Rovers led thanks to winger Ben Blackmore's early try but the Centurions quickly found their rhythm and full-back Gregg McNally scored a hat-trick of tries while former Featherstone player Greg Worthington also touched down and Martyn Ridyard kicked five goals.
Featherstone had the final say when Ian Hardman was awarded a penalty try but their fifth defeat of the season saw them concede fourth spot to Dewsbury, who were 19-12 winners over Batley in the middle match at Bloomfield Road.
Tries from Scott Hale and Aaron Brown helped the Rams into a 12-6 interval lead and Dalton Grant added a third try in the second half before Anthony Thackeray clinched the win with a late drop goal.
Brad Day and Alex Brown scored tries for Batley, with Scott Leatherbarrow kicking two goals.
Hunslet were the day's other victors, courtesy of a 25-12 success against bottom club Doncaster, who have now lost their last 18 matches going back to August.
Jimmy Keinhorst, Jimmy Watson, Danny Maun and Luke Briscoe scored the Hawks' tries and Danny Ansell kicked four goals and a drop goal.
Tom Hodgson, Richard Wilkinson and Shaun Leaf scored tries for Doncaster, who parted company with coach Paul Cooke during the week.
