Newport were worthy winners in northern Italy and gained maximum points thanks to a late brace of tries from Tom Prydie, after earlier touchdowns from Jonathan Evans and Hallam Amos.
Prydie capped off a man-of-the-match display with three conversions and two penalties for a match haul of 22 points.
All of Treviso's 17 points came in the second half, with Enrico Bacchin crossing the whitewash in the 46th minute before they were awarded a penalty try nine minutes later. Full-back Jayden Hayward kicked both conversions and added a penalty for good measure.
Scrum-half Evans darted over for the first try of the game in the 19th minute and full-back Prydie made no mistake with the conversion.
Newport were 10-0 ahead shortly after the half-hour mark when Prydie kicked his first penalty of the match.
The Welsh side went into the half-time break 17-0 ahead when poor defensive play enabled left wing Amos to cross the line for the second Dragons try, which Prydie converted, with seconds of the first period remaining.
Prydie made it 20-0 early into the second half with his final penalty before Treviso regrouped and fought back to within three points of the visitors.
Centre Bacchin got Treviso on the board with a well-worked try moments after Prydie's penalty and a 55th-minute penalty try, awarded for persistent scrum infringement, and a subsequent Hayward penalty put Treviso just three points behind at 20-17 with 15 minutes remaining.
Newport were unwilling to let their dominance count for nothing, however, and Prydie crossed in the 71st minute for his first try to put his side eight points ahead, and converted his second two minutes from time to secure a bonus-point victory.
