Scott, a two-time world champion, was arguably Ainslie's biggest rival at London 2012, with the pair locked in a memorable battle for the one available slot on the British team. Ainslie is now campaigning to bring sailing's oldest prize to the UK for the first time and Scott, a firm favourite for Finn class gold at Rio 2016, is the latest top name to join his team. "I’m hoping it will be easy to integrate the two, and achieve my Olympic goals and have a positive impact on the Cup," said Scott. "It’s an amazing project to be involved in. I’m just feeling very excited about getting my teeth into it and trying to make it all happen." Scott's double bid for success on the ocean wave has been backed by Stephen Parks, the Royal Yachting Association's Olympic manager. "No one understands what it takes to win an Olympic medal better than Ben Ainslie – and that will help to ensure that Giles gets the job done in Rio before focussing exclusively on the America’s Cup," he said. "Giles will be able to draw on Ben’s experience to ensure he keeps the Finn Olympic gold medal in British hands, where it has been since 2000." Meanwhile, 2008 Olympic gold medallist Pippa Wilson has given up on her Rio dream. Wilson, who joined forces with Sarah Ayton and Sarah Webb to win Yngling gold in Beijing, was looking to secure the British selection in the Nacra 17 class, a mixed crew multihull that will debut in 2016. Wilson had teamed up with John Gimson but claims she couldn't give the programme the attention it requires. Gimson will now work with Hannah Diamond, who struck silver at the 2013 World Championships with Ben Saxton. "It has been a wonderful journey and I have learned so much sailing these fantastic boats, but my motivations have changed," said Wilson. © Sportsbeat 2014
