Korea's Sungbin Yun showed he means business this Olympic season after nudging world champion Martins Dukurs into second at the latest World Cup event in Park City.
Latvian Dukurs was searching for his 50th World Cup victory on Saturday after triumphing in the season-opener in Lake Placid last weekend – Yun finishing in silver on that occasion.
But the roles were reversed this time around as a new track record of 48.50 seconds on his second run helped propel the Korean to the top of the leaderboard.
He finished with a combined time of 1:37.32, 0.63 seconds ahead of reigning World Cup champion Dukurs, for his first gold at that level in nearly a year.
World Championship silver medallist Axel Jungk completed the podium for Germany 0.75 seconds back.
The result sees both Yun and Dukurs sit atop the early World Cup standings on 435 points each with Jungk third overall.
