Yuki Ito takes ski jumping World Cup gold in Japanese podium one-two

It was a Japanese one-two on the podium as Yuki Ito clinched ski jumping World Cup gold in Pyeongchang on Wednesday.

A stunning second jump of 101.5m, 5.5m greater than her first effort of 96.0 saw Ito top the leaderboard on a total of 234.4 points, with compatriot Sara Takanashi second on 224.9.
Third place was won by Slovenia's Ema Klinec, who after a first jump of 100.0m, lost four metres on her second to finish on 218.7 points.

Yuki Ito takes top honours in PyeongChang

The furthest first round jump of 103.5m was achieved by Germany's Ramona Straub, but a second effort of 93.0 saw her finish in fifth place, 8.2 points from the podium places.
Her silver medal finish sees Takanashi continue to top the overall World Cup standings on 1275, with Ito second on 1028.
Norway's Maren Lundby is third on 989 points having finished fourth in PyeongChang.
The World Cup series continues on Thursday, before travelling to Oslo in March.
