John Higgins downs Judd Trump to set up Ding Junhui semi-final

John Higgins overcame Judd Trump 6-4 to set up a semi-final clash against Ding Junhui at the Champion of Champions.

The pair met in the final of Group 4 to see who would progress to meet the winner of Group 1.
Higgins produced a break of 112 on his way to taking the opening two frames but Trump came roaring back with runs of 56 and 60.
Runs of 61 and 90 saw Higgins open a three-frame advantage but Trump again came back at him, compiling runs of 79 and 65 to close the gap to one frame.
However, Higgins produced the highest break of the tournament thus far – a 143 – to seal his spot in the semi-finals in fine style.
Earlier, the first round of the tournament drew to a close with Higgins and Trump beating Shaun Murphy and Anthony McGill respectively to set up their quarter-final showdown.
Higgins put together runs of 68, 50 and 54 as he beat fourth seed Murphy 4-2.
The pair shared the opening four frames before four-time world champion Higgins ground out frames five and six to ensure his progression.
Trump, meanwhile, overcame McGill 4-3.
Trump, 27, opened up a 3-1 advantage following breaks of 124, 111 and 50, but McGill posted 55 to take frame five before securing a tense sixth to send the match to a decider.
World number three Trump compiled a break of 132 - tied with Stuart Bingham for the tournament's highest - to move into the next round.
The winner of the tournament on Saturday night will earn a cheque for £100,000.
