Judd Trump put one foot in snooker's World Championship semi-finals as he pulled into a 12-4 lead against China's Ding Junhui.
Trump will need just one more frame on the resumption of the match on Wednesday after a devastating display against the Chinese superstar.
The Bristolian, a finalist at the Crucible in 2011, had earned a commanding 6-2 lead in the opening session, and picked up where he left off on Tuesday evening as he quickly extended his advantage to 9-2.
Ding dug deep, however, and seemed to be on the verge of a miraculous recovery as he pulled it back to 9-4.
But Trump clicked back into top gear to sweep the last three frames of the session, producing breaks of 121 and 111 in the last two of the night to all-but-guarantee himself a spot in the last four.
In the other match, Shaun Murphy leads Anthony McGill 9-7 after coming out marginally on top of a back-and-forth match that already looked destined to go the distance after the opening session had finished 4-4.
In the other two quarter-final matches earlier on Tuesday, both Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson were outplayed as they slipped to 5-3 deficits against Stuart Bingham and Barry Hawkins respectively.
