Murphy too good for Davis

The Englishman raced into a 5-1 lead, before a slight wobble gave the veteran Davis hope.

"I had a chance to win it at 5-1, but had a bad kick in amongst the balls," said Murphy.

"In the next frame I missed a shot with the rest, so fair play to Steve for taking his chances. But I scored well and felt at home amongst the balls."

Murphy said he would be well-supported for his match against Hendry.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he said.

"There's going to be good support for me because there will be a lot of people coming down from Rotherham to watch the match.

"Stephen has made this his home and I've never beaten him, but hopefully that will change."
