Ronnie O’Sullivan was in imperious form as he sauntered into the quarter-final of the UK Championship courtesy of a 6-0 win over Matthew Selt.
O'Sullivan got off to a solid, if unspectacular start - but found his rhythm as the match progressed before finishing Selt off in literally perfect fashion.
Selt was first to get his hand on the table as the match got going but could only make 11 and, after a safety exchange, O’Sullivan took the first frame courtesy of a break of 76.
Frame two was a tighter affair with O’Sullivan edging it on the colours 74-53.
After that, however, he began to hit form with breaks of 61, 52 and 89 to secure the next three frames.
The Rocket then finished off with a brilliant 147 to whitewash Selt and record the 13th maximum of his career.
O'Sullivan will now face Anthony McGill - conqueror of John Higgins - in the quarter-finals.
Marco Fu also made the last eight on Thursday, edging Shaun Murphy 6-5 in a thrilling encounter.
Murphy was in control and leading 62-43 in the decider before giving up a foul as the frame moved onto the colours. Fu cleared up to claim the match.
Judd Trump also made it through as he enjoyed a straightforward 6-3 win over Rod Lawler - a win that he bookmarked with centuries in the first and last frames.
