Ronnie O'Sullivan defeats Mark Allen in last-16 match

World number 12 Ronnie O'Sullivan has defeated Mark Allen 4-2 in his last 16 match in the Scottish Open in order to progress to the quarter-finals.

After seeing off friend and fellow Eurosport pundit Jimmy White in the first match of the day O'Sullivan raced into action against Allen.

Back-to-back century breaks saw O'Sullivan go into a 2-0 lead before Allen got himself on the board.

O'Sullivan moved ahead again but once again Allen checked him to make it 3-2.

'The Rocket' took the final frame, though, to secure his progression and he will face John Higgins in the next round.

The Scot brushed Dominic Dale aside 4-0 in the final match of the evening.
