Championship League titleholder Matthew Stevens's crown is under threat after the Welshman endured an opening day to forget

The world number 13 dropped to the foot of the Group One table after successive defeats to Mark Selby, Andrew Higginson and Shaun Murphy at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex.

And with matches against Mark Davis, Ali Carter and Judd Trump to come on Tuesday, his grip on the trophy is in real danger of being relinquished.

World number one Selby, on the other hand, looks good for qualification to the winners' group after posting victories over Stevens, Murphy and Trump.

Davis too won all three of his opening matches while notching the highest break of the day with a 133 in his clash with Andrew Higginson - one of five centuries made against the unfortunate Higginson.

Group One concludes on Tuesday before Group Two kicks off a day later.
