Ronnie O’Sullivan will take a 6-2 lead into the next session against Shaun Murphy after dominating Thursday’s opener at the World Championship.
The Rocket made a fine 128 break – potting the white with his final shot to chalk out a 135 – during a lightning start as he raced into a 5-1 lead.
A scrappy seventh frame saw both players spurn clear opportunities, with Murphy eventually taking it after O’Sullivan missed on the black.
However, O’Sullivan restored his four-frame advantage in the last to remain the clear favourite to reach the quarter-finals.
