Hallett said: "Mark has been the big surprise and seems to get stronger as the tournament goes on but I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank.
"John produced a marvellous fightback in his semi and he could have too much experience over four sessions.
"He has had extra time and will be fresher. I expect him to go all guns blazing in the first session and to win by 18-14 or 18-15."
But Eurosport commentator David Hendon thinks 23-year-old Selby can follow Terry Griffiths and Shaun Murphy by becoming the third qualifier to wni the game's biggest prize:
"The logical pick is Higgins who has won here before and as all the experience. But Selby is not phased by the big names and beat him here last year," he mused.
"I think he has played the best snooker of anyone in this tournament and has been a breath of fresh air.
"It reminds of me 1986 when Joe Johnson played Steve Davis. All the pressure will be on John and Mark can just go out and enjoy himself with the pressure off. I fancy him to cause an upset."
