Great Britain’s Charlotte Gilmartin took advantage of team-mate Elise Christie’s absence to claim 1,000m bronze at the short track speed skating World Cup in Minsk.

Christie is missing from Belarus after sustaining concussion at the last World Cup event in Dresden but is a two-time winner over 1,000m this season.
But Gilmartin, who won World Cup bronze in the 1,500m last week, proved a more than capable substitute as she continued her impressive season ahead of next month’s World Championships in Rotterdam.
China’s Han Yutong took gold ahead of Dutch skater Rianne de Vries, with Gilmartin just fractions behind. Korea’s Yong Jin Lim won the men’s 1,000m race.
Korea’s Ye Jin Kim edged out Italy’s Arianna Fontana to win the women’s 500m final while Kazakhstan’s Denis Nikisha got the better of team-mate Abzal Azhgaliyev to win the men’s race.
Russia claimed the women’s 3,000m relay for the first time this season while the Dutch quartet moved to the top of the overall World Cup standings with a win in the men’s 5,000m relay, after four silver medals in the previous five events.
