Knegt pleases home crowd on final day of short track World Cup

Sjinkie Knegt gave the home crowd what they craved as the Dutchman won the 1000m on the final day of the second short track World Cup of the season in Dordrecht.

There were also wins for Canada and China in the men's and women's relays, respectively, while Shim Suk Hee took the women's 1000m for Korea.
But it was Knegt that pleased the crowd most, coming home ahead of Canada's Samuel Girard and Korea's Seo Ri Ya to take the gold medal.
"I felt good the whole time and I always felt I could pass Girard," Knegt said. "But everything has to be done at the right moment.
"It's the best experience racing in front of this crowd. I really enjoyed it. I saw them wearing masks of me, it was super funny."
In the women's equivalent race Shim took gold ahead of home skater Suzanne Schulting, with Korea's Lee Yu Bin taking bronze.
Shim could not make it a second gold of the day though as her Korean team came home second behind China in the 3000m relay, with Canada taking the bronze.
While Canada's male equivalents went two better in the 5000m relay as they took gold ahead of the Netherlands and China.
