The Northern Irishman started from pole but was no match for the speed of Chaz Davies who won the race by 3.9 seconds from Rea.
Davies got off to a flying start and led into the first corner, with Nicky Hayden also going past Rea before the Kawasaki rider fought back to move into second.
Tom Sykes saw his slim title hopes fade after a poor start and by lap three he was struggling in fifth position as Rea rode away to glory.
Sylvain Guintoli completed the podium on his Yamaha, with Sykes finishing strongly to take fourth after passing Hayden late on.
Xavi Fores took sixth, Alex Lowes seventh and the top 10 was rounded out by Jordi Torres, Michael van der Mark and Lorenzo Savadori.
