O'Connor grabs second medal with bronze in 100m medley

Siobhan-Marie O’Connor won her second medal of the European Championships with bronze in the 100m Individual Medley.

The third day of action saw the British Gas GBR swimming team claim their fourth medal of the competition with O’Connor swimming with confidence.
The Bath-based swimmer backed up her silver medal in the 200m individual medley with bronze today and continued to show her impressive winter form. O’Connor touched in 58.26 to secure her position on the podium and a new personal best.
Plymouth-based Olympic breaststroke champion Ruta Meilutyte won the race in a new Championship record time of 57.68. Silver went to Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu in 57.96.
In the 400m freestyle final Jazz Carlin finished in sixth place in a new personal best time of 4:00.92. Team-mate Hannah Miley finished in seventh in 4:03.35.
Bronze medallist in the 200m individual Medley Sophie Allen qualified in seventh place for the final of the 100m breaststroke in 1:06.00.
Jemma Lowe finished second in the first semi-final of the 100m butterfly after touching in a time of 57.06.
While Chris Walker-Hebborn will go into the 100m backstroke final third fastest after clocking 51.08. Craig McNally finished 14th overall in 52.19.
Derby’s Adam peaty finished in 11th place in the 50m breaststroke in 26.99.
