Jamieson took silver in the 200m breaststroke at London 2012 but has struggled of late after he failed to qualify for the World Championships in Kazan this year.
It was a strong showing for Britain's swimmers out in Russia as they racked up a record five gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
And with such a good showing Jamieson knows he needs to up his game if he is going to stand any chance of adding to his Olympic tally next summer.
So the 27-year-old, who was beaten to gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games by teammate Ross Murdoch, has ventured north in a bid to recapture his finest form. "It's been a really tough decision to leave Bath as I have such a great relationship with all of the coaches and the athletes, but this is a performance based decision with Rio in mind," he said.
"I'm under no illusions as to how difficult that is and I have a long way to come back, but I know I'm capable of still being a world-class athlete.
"I'm focused on a medal in Rio and come the Olympics I'd love it if Ross and myself were both on the podium, that would be incredible, but I want to be in front of him this time."
