Peaty leads the way as British records fall in Doha

The 19-year-old two-time Commonwealth and four-time European champion set a new Championship record of 56.43 in the 100m breaststroke semi-finals on Wednesday.

It put him through to Thursday night's final as the fastest qualifier but he was also in action during the morning, helping the 4x50m mixed medley and men's 4x50m medley relay teams through to the final.

First up was the men's relay with Peaty combining with Chris Walker-Hebborn, Adam Barrett and Ben Proud to clock a new British record of 1:33.87.

Peaty � who also set a new personal best of 21.52 to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the men's 50m freestyle � and Walker-Hebborn then joined Siobhan-Marie O'Connor and Fran Halsall in the mixed medley relay to qualify fastest in another national best of 1:38.16.

O'Connor picked up the third British record of the morning, beating her own previous standard of 58.26 to touch in 57.98 and progress through to this evening's 100m individual medley semi-finals as the second fastest qualifier.

Also joining Peaty in the medal races in Thursday's evening session is Georgia Davies who goes in the women's 100m backstroke final while Jazz Carlin makes her first outing of the Championships in the heats of the women's 800m freestyle.
