Walkden now goes into the repechege at 00:30 BST on Sunday.
Neither Zheng or Walkden managed to score in the first two rounds, though Zheng came close to landing a head shot on one occasion. Zheng scored first but Walkden equalized to take the fight to golden-point, though with Zheng finally landing the head shot, Walkden will now at best take home a bronze.
An emotional Walkden said after the result: "I didn't come here for bronze." She added "Obviously I've got a chance at bronze, but I don't really want it."
Earlier in the day, Walkden sailed through to the semi-finals after beating Serbia’s Milica Mandic 4-0 after administering a 14-1 thrashing of Papua New Guinea’s Samantha Kassman in the round-of-16.
Cho took on Azerbaijan’s Radik Isaev in the semi-final. Isaev defended well, but Cho was able land a fist to go a point up as the pair went into the final round.
Isaev evened the score before landing a head kick which was contested and the points deducted having been conceded while Cho was on the floor. Nonetheless it was Isaev to land the final kicks and win 4-1.
He goes into the repechage at 00:45 to fight for bronze.
Cho progressed to the semi-finals after beating Iranian Sajjad Mardani 4-3 with a left-foot kick in the final seconds, after beating Gabon’s Anthony Mylann Obame 12-6 earlier on Saturday in the round-of-16.
