Rafa Nadal cruises past Sergiy Stakhovsky in Montreal

Spain's Rafa Nadal came through his opening match at the Montreal Masters in straight sets.

The seventh seed had a bye in the opening round, and at first was matched blow for blow by Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky.
But after coming through a tie-break to claim the opening set, Nadal wrapped up the match in relative comfort to win 7-6(4) 6-3.
Next up Nadal will face Russia's Mikhail Youzhny, who beat ninth seed Gilles Simon 6-1 6-4.
Fourth seed Kei Nishikori, winner in Washington at the weekend, also made it safely through, beating Pablo Andujar of Spain 6-3 6-3.
