Kim is heavily pregnant and due to give birth to the couple’s first child in around two weeks.
Murray had pledged to return home during the tournament if Kim went into labour, and with her father Nigel also falling ill during the tournament it has been an emotionally straining fortnight for the world number two and his partner.
After his straight-sets defeat to Novak Djokovic, who has now beaten him four times in the final of the Australian Open, the emotion overcame Murray as he praised his wife, watching at home.

Djokovic, who enjoyed his 11th Grand Slam title, wished Murray well, having become a father himself for the first time in 2015.
