Photos: How Novak Djokovic celebrated Australian Open glory
Updated 01/02/2016 at 08:29 GMT
There was little opportunity for Novak Djokovic to rest after clinching his sixth Australian Open crown at Andy Murray’s expense: it seemed like everyone in Melbourne kept the world number one busy with photo requests.
The Serb, who clinched his 11th Grand Slam title and fourth victory over Murray in the final at Melbourne Park, was clearly inundated with appearance requests – and yes, we include hugging One Direction’s Niall Horan among those.
So here’s how a champion celebrates winning the Australian Open – this champion being Djokovic, that of course included singing and more than likely a quinoa and mung bean binge.
It all began on the court...
THAT emotional embrace with Boris Becker...
Meanwhile, there was this going on...
Then those memorable poses on the court...
Then THAT hug with One Direction's Niall Horan...
Then on to the press conference...
Then the locker room party...
Not much of a party, though. Where are the bottles of beer strewn around? Or the tubes of Pringles?
A long cuddle with the trophy...
A quick wave at the adoring fans...
Time for a bit of singing...
We didn't hear the Djoker's singing this time - but we have before, and suffice to say that a photo is probably the best way of enjoying this particular moment!
Time to meet a child named after him at the park...
Yup, this little chap really is called Novak - Novak Jankovic. No doubt his parents changed their surname by deed poll in tribute to Djokovic's fellow Serb, and former women's world number one, Jelena Jankovic. That's dedication!
Over to Government Hill for those clichéd trophy snaps...
And looking shocked to be holding the trophy... again!
Now it really is time to head home and see Stefan and Jelena...
