Pavel to lead Romania

Andrei Pavel will lead Romania in next month's Davis Cup world group first-round tie against France.

"Pavel and Victor Hanescu will play the singles matches against France, while Romania's doubles players will be Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau," captain Florin Segarceanu said.

Pavel is the world number 78 with Hanescu just one place below him in the rankings.

The tie will be played in the Transylvanian city of Sibiu between February 8 and 10.
