Great Britain will host the United States at Glasgow's Emirates Arena for their first home contest in the elite World Group since 2002, action getting underway on Friday.
As for Murray it is a first chance to play in Scotland since 2011, the 27-year-old having won Olympic gold and the US Open and Wimbledon titles since then.
The British number one was born in Glasgow and raised in Dunblane before now setting up camp in Surrey.
And Murray insists he is champing at the bit to get back out in front of his home fans.
"This is home," he said. "This is where I grew up. This is where my family live.
"Except for me and my brother they virtually all still live in Dunblane. I still have very strong ties to Dunblane for a number of reasons.
"It's the biggest home tie that I've played. Because tickets sold out quickly, it shows that there's a passion here for the sport.
"At the beginning when you come out, with the national anthem, the crowd getting right into it at the beginning - yes, it's an emotional experience.
"Sometimes at the beginning of the matches you can be a bit fired up, but that tends to subside after the first 15 or 20 minutes."
