Tsonga roars back to win in five

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (Fra) beat Marcos Baghdatis (Cyp) 6-7(8) 3-6 6-3 6-2 6-2 - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga staged a brilliant comeback to keep his hopes of a Grand Slam on home soil alive. The Frenchman looked down and out after slipping two sets behind, but dug deep to earn his 100th win at a Major. Does he really believe he can win at Roland Garros? His body language was certainly mixed - an alarming sign as early as the second round - but while he is in the draw, there is always a chance.

Ana Ivanovic through to last 32

Ana Ivanovic (Srb) beat Kurumi Nara (Jpn) 7-5 6-1 - Former champion Ana Ivanovic remains on course to challenge for this year's title after completing a comfortable win over Japan's world number 91 Kurumi Nara. The 2008 champion lost last year's semi-final to Lucie Šafářova, but showed signs of her very best form by coasting through the second set having edged a tight first set. She will face the winner of the meeting between 18th seed Elina Svitolina or American wildcard Taylor Townsend for a last-16 spot.

Aljaz Bedene wins in five sets

Aljaz Bedene (Britain) beat Pablo Carreno Busta (Spain) 7-6(4) 6-3 4-6 5-7 6-2 - Britain's Slovenian-born star Aljaz Bedene made it into the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time. The world number 66 earned a two sets to love lead, claiming a tight opener on a tie-break before outplaying his rival in the next two. But his Spanish opponent dug in brilliantly to square things up, only for Bedene to up his game in the decider. He fired a wondrous return ace to bring up match point, and screamed in delight as he took that chance at the first time of asking with Carreno Busta pulling a forehand into the tramlines.

Berdych pushed hard by Tunisia's Jaziri

7-Tomas Berdych (Czech Republic) beat Malek Jaziri (Tunisia) 6-1 2-6 6-2 6-4 - Seventh seed Tomas Berdych was given a serious examination by Tunisian veteran Malek Jaziri. After a one-sided first set Jaziri claimed the second in style, and Berdych had to re-double his concentration to get back in control and win the match. But he is through in four sets. Which sounds like an easy day's work compared to what Andy Murray has gone through in recent days.
