Rain has ensured that play has only begun on the two main showcourts on Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena, though the roof is open on Hisense Arena and play expected to begin shortly.

Cool temperatures under 19 degrees Celsius have greeted the players in the third round and with rain punctuating the day, the roof on the main court on Rod Laver Arena is closed.
Former top-10 player Eugenie Bouchard opens proceedings on the main court against American Coco Vandeweghe, while women's champion Angelique Kerber will be hoping the wrinkles that have punctuated her first two matches are gone against Kristyna Pliskova.
