Women's 11th seed Timea Bacsinszky won the first set 6-4 against Thailand's Luksika Kumkhum.
1053 STEPHENS MOVES INTO SECOND ROUND
American Sloane Stephens, the women's 18th seed, beat Peng Shuai of China 7-6(5) 6-2 to move into the second round.
1040 QUERREY DOWNS BELLUCCI
Men's 28th seed Sam Querrey overcame Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 6-4 6-3 6-2 to move into the third round.
