British number one Johanna Konta picked up where she left off as she eased past Shelby Rogers in the first round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
The 25-year-old beat Venus Williams at the Stanford Classic on Sunday to win her maiden WTA title and had little difficulty in disposing of another American in Rogers on Tuesday.
Now ranked 14th in the world, Konta needed a little more than 80 minutes to book her place in round two with a comfortable 6-4 6-2 win over the 23-year-old.
She will face another American in round two, after qualifier Vania King came through against Hungary's Timea Babos 6-4 3-6 7-6.
Konta's compatriot Naomi Broady was not so lucky, bowing out 6-4 3-6 6-3 to lucky loser Varvara Lepchenko - who stepped in when French Open winner Garbine Muguruza pulled out shortly before the contest with a reported stomach upset.
Wildcard Francoise Abanda defeated qualifier Saisai Zheng 6-1 7-5 in a match which was held over from Monday because of the wet weather.
Madison Keys, the 10th seed, eased past Elena Vesnina 6-4 6-0, while qualifier Shuai Zhang retired when trailing Christina McHale 6-2 3-0.
Andrea Petkovic was too strong for Alize Cornet, winning 7-6 6-3, Sara Errani saw off Aleksandra Wozniak 6-4 7-6 and Simona Halep knocked out Daria Gavrilova 6-2 6-3.
Canada's Eugenie Bouchard gave the home fans something to cheer with a 6-3 3-6 7-6 win over Lucie Safarova, while the other first round ties also went to three sets.
Qualifier Kristina Kucova upset Yanina Wickmayer, coming from behind to defeat the Belgian 4-6 6-2 6-3, while Monica Niculescu overcame Jelena Ostapenko 3-6 7-5 6-1.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova saw off Yulia Putintseva 6-4 1-6 7-5 and was joined in the second round by fellow Russian Alla Kudryavtseva - the qualifier ending the challenge of Kristina Mladenovic 7-6 1-6 6-3.
Daria Kasatkina beat Misaki Doi 3-6 6-3 6-1 and Karolina Pliskova defeated Kateryna Bondarenko 3-6 6-2 7-5.
In Tuesday's final match to finish, Dominika Cibulkova booked a clash against Bouchard by defeating Colombia's Mariana Duque-Marino 6-2 6-2.
