Britain's Johanna Konta staged a superb fightback to beat world number two Simona Halep 6-3 3-6 7-5 and reach the last eight of the WTA Wuhan Open.
The world number 66 won the first set but looked set for defeat as Halep, the top seed at the event, won the second set and raced to a 5-1 lead in the decisive third.
However, Konta rallied and won six games in a row to claim a remarkable third set 7-5 to stun the Romanian.
Andy Murray was among the first to congratulate Konta, sending a message on Twitter.
The 24-year-old plays former world number one Venus Williams in the quarter-finals next, after which she could potentially face US Open finalist Roberta Vinci.
Konta will replace Heather Watson as British number one with her tour ranking set to rise to at least 55 - if not higher - when the new rankings come out on Monday.
The Australian-born is on a sensational run of form having won 21 of her previous 22 matches, including two rounds of qualifying in Wuhan to join 19 of the world's top 20 in the main draw.
