Kei Nishikori sees off Lucas Pouille at Gerry Weber Open

Japan's Kei Nishikori began his Wimbledon preparations with a win as he beat Lucas Pouille in the first round of the Gerry Weber Open.

Nishikori lost the first set but bounced back to beat Pouille 6-7 (5/7) 6-1 6-4 as the world number four returned to the grass ahead of Wimbledon, which starts in two weeks.
Fifth seed David Goffin was also given a tough examination as he edged out talented Croatian Borna Coric 7-6 (7/5) 6-7 (3/7) 6-4 to book his place in the second round.
At the Aegon Championships at Queen's, the opening day was spoiled by rain as Britain's Dan Evans saw his first round match against Paul-Henri Mathieu postponed.
