Kyle Edmund subjected to disgusting abuse after defeat to Novak Djokovic

The world number 46 lost in straight sets to defending champion Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells and he has now revealed the vile comments he received on Facebook following the defeat.

After the 6-4 7-6(5) loss to the Serb, Edmund posted a number of screengrabs of the abuse, saying: “More satisfied customers following the BNPP017 ATP World Tour.”

One anonymous user wrote: “You need to be brutally r***d and s*********d”, “cut into tiny pieces” and “you need to have your throat cut out and your decomposing, bug infested body fed to wild pigs.”

They added: "I'm going to f****** annihilate you."

Another user, Anders Kring, who chose not to remain anonymous, wrote: “You suck, ugly as f***, and afraid of beating the greatest. You are and alaways (sic) will be a stupid challenger player with no wins.”

Edmund has previously been subjected to similar abuse. Last year, the British star’s father said: “Kyle gets abuse every time he loses and he’ll get abused sometimes when he wins."
