Federer turned on the style in the quickest victory so far in this year's tounament, as he moved into the third round where he wil face qualifier Benjamin Balleret of Monaco.
The victory will boost Federer's confidence after a non-too convincing performance in his first round match against young Serbian player Novak Djokovic.
The Swiss world number one is still short of a solitary Grand Slam title - the French Open - but on this form, this year could well prove to be his year at Roland Garros.
NADAL FINDS IT TOUGH
In the day's last match on Court Central, Nadal found safe passage into the third round against a spirited Lisnard. The Monegasque qualifier made the going tough for the defending champion, even if his serve was broken by the Spaniard in the first game of the match.
To his credit, Lisnard fought straight back with a break of his own, and then continued to harry the number two seed throughout the first set.
Nadal held his nerve though, and despite a few shaky moments, came out on top to take the first set 6-4.
Nadal then moved up a gear and showed just why he's capable of winning again, not only this tournament, but the French Open as well.
Lisnard had no answer to the Spaniard's powerful play and crumpled to lose the set 6-1, a scoreline which was possibly a little harsh given the quality of the lcoal boy's play.
Nadal will now go on to play the winner of Kristof Vliegen's tie with Jan Hernych.
ELSWHERE
Elsewhere, Ivan Ljubicic defeated Florent Serra 4-6 6-3 7-5 to set up a date with Gilles Simon who had to work hard to get past the challenge of sixteenth seed Thomas Berdych 7-6 6-7 6-4.
Seventh seeded Argentine Gaston Gaudio won through with a 6-3 3-6 6-4 win over compatriot Jose Acasuso. He will now face Alessio Di Mauro in the third round.
