Williams hit 20 winners and thundered down five aces on her way to victory in 51 minutes.
The world number one eased to the first set as she dispatched both break opportunities on offer before bageling Kuznetsova in the second set.
Speaking to the WTA website, Williams said it was one of her best performances on clay.
"On clay, for sure," she said.
Irina-Camelia Begu waits for Williams in the last four after she beat Misaki Doi 6-2-7-6.
The other semi-final will be between last year's Wimbledon runner-up Garbine Muguruza of Spain, a 7-5 6-2 winner over Swiss Timea Bacsinszky, and American Madison Keys who beat Czech Barbora Strycova 6-4 4-6 6-3.
