Top seeds sail through Biyuan Cup Zhengzhou Women's Tennis Open first round

Top seed Peng Shuai coasted into the second round of the Biyuan Cup Zhengzhou Women's Tennis Open with a comfortable 6-1 6-1 win against Japan's Shuko Aoyama.

All eight first-round matches on the opening day were completed in straight sets, with second seed Wang Qiang beating Hiroko Kuwata 6-1 6-1, and third seed Duan Ying-ying ousting Thai qualifier Peangtarn Plipuech by the same score.

Japan's fourth seed Nao Hibino beat compatriot Akiko Omae 6-1 6-2 and eighth seed Liu Fangzhou won 7-6 (7/4) 6-2 against Thailand's Varatchaya Wongteanchai.

Greece's Valentini Grammatikopoulou beat Xu Yi-fan 6-1 6-3, Japan's Eri Hozumi eased through against qualifier Guo Hanyu 6-1 6-3 and Yang Zhaoxuan knocked out Tang Hao Chen 6-1 6-2.
